Recorded material has always been extremely important to me over the years. I have always kept a large running log of sessions and releases. There have been times I have followed up years after when material is finally released with an Artist. Every once in a while a record pops up, and it is a huge surprise. Such was the case with this live record recently: Glenn Hughes-Arcada Thr.-St. Charles, IL-09.13.18...
Elizabeth and I had planned to go this this show, and we were both so excited about it. Eduardo Baldo (Red Devil Vortex) was on the tour for Glenn behind the kit, and was gracious enough to give my 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 a whirl. We all had dinner together before the show, talked drums, and we all had such a great time. He did an incredible job, and the show was surreal...Literally. We had a nice visit after the show, and Eduardo is a not only a great guy, but a massive talent in this industry.
I remember telling her, and him after, how much I wished the show was being recorded, I have had many moments like that over the years at shows listening, and subsequently thinking how important it is to capture Musical moments forever. This was one of them. I had no idea it was being recorded, and lo & behold this popped up yesterday. I was thrilled to pieces that that night has a permanent record now.
As well, we had a very nice visit with Glenn after the show. I mentioned to him Frankie (Banali) uses my gear, him and Glenn had been best friends for many years. Elizabeth spent quite some time talking to him, and he could not have been nicer. I grew up being, and still am of course, a massive Deep Purple fan. This was quite a night.
Please do check this record out when you have a chance, and Thank You Again Eduardo....
