CANADA'S CHAD MELCHERT-TOUR DATES-HALFTIME SHOW-NEW VIDEO-AUSTRALIAN TOUR-1.5 STEEL--4 X 15....

Chad Melchert has been busy as always with sessions, and live with Gord Bamford...

The band recently filmed the video for the song "Breakfast Beer". Thanks Chad for the great shot from the set (first pic below), and for using your 1.5 Steel--4 x 15. He also used that same drum when they performed recently at the halftime show of the Edmonton Eskimos in Clarke Stadium, & will be using the drum on more tour dates in July. The band will also be touring Australia in October 2016 on the This Crazy Life Tour. He will be using a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 for that tour...

This story will be updated as the video comes out, & more tour dates are added. Thanks Again Chad for everything....!

INTELLASOUND'S DAVID MAIER....BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14...

Got a great message from David Maier, one of the owners of Intellasound several weeks ago....

I have run into David on and off at shows over the last five years, and he has always been really great about talking gear and music. I recently visited Intellasound as well. That is something I always wanted to do also. It is simply an incredible organization with a AAA Rating with everyone. This a full scale operation, and they can put on a show of virtually almost any size.

Backline guys are always interesting to talk to, are musicians themselves, & are great resources for information. He had picked up a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 for their backline service last year. The drum was outfitted in Brass all the way around. I was particularly happy about this because I knew it would end up in a variety of places, and with a diverse range of artists. That, to me, is a true test of any instrument. Plus, David knows exactly how to tune a drum, and understands all aspects of them.

This latest show Intellasound was in the Wisconsin Dells at The Palace Theater with the Canadian based #1 tribute band to the Bee Gees: Stayin Alive. He brought three snare drums for the show, and they chose my 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. Dave told me they picked it purely for the sound. This is the second time this has happened, the time before was at an Uncle Kracker show this last January (second pic below). I will never get tired of hearing that....Because that is exactly what I am up to here....Sound.

Thanks Again David for everything, and for taking time out to show me around Intellasound. Appreciate your comments on different heads, throws, etc.., Your thoughts are always extremely valued. Hope to see you out on the road soon....

MIKE ZIMMERMAN-KENNY ROGERS FAREWELL TOUR-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

Nashville pro Mike Zimmerman is using his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on the Kenny Rogers Farewell Tour, and that is something I was really looking forward to. According to him-The drum is working out perfectly. To have a drum with a player like Mike, on such an important, and for that matter historic tour like this...Is truly great news here.

Mike was introduced to my gear by Michael Grando. Michael is another Nashville ace & holds the seat for Joe Diffie. That band live...Was one of the best times I had last year on the road. Not sure I am going to be able to see them this Summer yet...but I truly am hoping. The third pic below is Mike using Michael's 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 which Michael has used live with Joe Diffie, along with his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14.

I will be updating this story on Mike as the tour goes on, and will also be at the show on July 24th in Chicago. I am really looking forward to seeing this a great deal. Thanks Again for the phone call Mike, and your enthusiasm for my gear. When you guys take the time out to call me and contact me...That is the greatest to me. I am always so anxious to hear from you guys, and just want to make sure everything is going great. It truly is hard to tell you how much I appreciated that. Looking forward to seeing you and this band in July!

DANNY THOMPSON-ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT-MODERN DRUMMER-ON THE BEAT-MAY ISSUE.....

It was great to see Danny Thompson of the Alan Parsons Live Project in the May on-line issue of Modern Drummer's "On The Beat". It was a great read, and Danny discussed his background, & how he got his current position with Alan Parsons,

Danny was cool enough to take time out for me when they rolled through Milwaukee last year. He used a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 that night...And has been using one ever since. He is an amazingly talented & unbelievable player. Plus, the guy is great person as well. I saw a comment below the Modern Drummer article that said Danny was "One of the best drummers I've ever had the pleasure to see perform". That is exactly what I said after I saw him play to many people. Him, with this unreal band, with Alan Parsons....Is something you simply have to see and hear.

The timing of this was ironic. I had been going through some of the clips from the show last year and will be posting another one or two soon. I took a lot of them, and had a great angle from the side of the stage. Link below to a clip from the show here.

Thanks Again Danny, Congrats on the spot in Modern Drummer, Thank You for using my 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14, and Thanks Again for the introduction to Tommy Rickard.....

MAT DONALDSON-DRUM WORLD TULSA-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--8 X 14~

From a referral from a great friend of mine, I recently heard from Mat Donaldson of Drum World Tulsa about making him a drum. It was great to hear from him. After discussing it with him, he wanted an 8 x 14. It really was amazing how like-minded we are about drums. We were completely on the same page. I was working on a very limited timetable though because Mat wanted to use the drum for a new record he was doing with Weston Horn, Steve Snyder, Chris Hyde, & Rockwell Ryan Ripperger at Dockside Studios. Well, I got it done...And he absolutely loved the drum, and was able to have it in the studio for the new upcoming record. I am so looking forward to picking up a copy when it is released...

Mat is also the owner of Drum World Tulsa, which is arguably one of the best drum shops in this country, and a mainstay in the business. Thanks Again for everything Mat....It was a lot of fun and a pleasure to deal with you...

"The Beier 1.5 Steel--8 x 14 is my new go-to drum. I am completely happy with it..."
