DAVID NORTHRUP-LIVE ON TOUR-THE OAK RIDGE BOYS CHRISTMAS TOUR-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14~

I had the amazing opportunity to get together with Nashville legend David Northrup when The Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Tour rolled through this last weekend. It was their 40th Anniversary. To sum it up: It was a dazzling display of professionalism and talent. There is a reason they are on their fourth decade of live performance, and quite literally, their third generation of fans.

David has used my 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on the track "My Guns" with Mike McCarroll (link below), and most recently on a Contemporary Christian track for a record which will be out any time now. He used his new 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 for the first part of this show, and it went spectacularly well. According to him...Even the Sound Engineer absolutely loved the drum. This type of feedback is always wonderful to hear here, especially coming from a player of this caliber. His touring/recording credits are incredibly extensive & include, to name a few...Travis Tritt, John Waite, Wynonna, John Mellencamp, Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, Joe Diffie, and on it goes. He was also voted the #2 Country Drummer in the Modern Drummer Readers Poll in 2009, and #2 Clinician in 2010. He will be using his new 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on tour with The Oak Ridge Boys for the 2015.  Live clips of this show will be posted in the next couple of weeks, and will update this post. I told him several times, but will say it again here: Thank You David Northrup....I appreciate your time and interest in Beier Drums.....

ACHIM FAERBER-ACOUSTIC TOUR-PETER HEPPNER-UPDATE & VIDEO~

Achim Faerber (Eisbrecher, Project Pitchfork, Prag, Automat) recently completed a very successful & mostly sold-out acoustic tour with Peter Heppner in Germany. It was so well received...It will be continued in September 2015. Achim told me it was a very interesting experience for him using only mallets, brushes & shakers for the entire tour. He did not use any sticks. Quite a diversion from his heavy hitting duties for Eisbrecher & Project Pitchfork. He also used the Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 for all of the shows as he does in Project Pitchfork, Prag & Automat. Link below for an excellent clip from the tour. Regarding the photo he sent below...:

"A small shaker in the right hand, left hand just slaps the 5.5 x 14 steel snare, and the only bass you hear in the room is my 14 x 26 Broadcaster Bass Drum from 1937.  Love it..."

UPDATE-FRANKIE BANALI-QUIET RIOT-BANG YOUR HEAD TOUR & THE BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--5.5 X 15~

This is an update to the story this Summer with Quiet Riot headlining the Bang Your Head Tour, and Frankie Banali taking time out to give the Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 a whirl live. This was an interesting experiment, as Frankie plays snares that are 6" or deeper live-Always. The drum went over extremely well, had numerous comments from drummers in the audience, and the entire show that evening was simply a great time. Even Trent Anderson (Tuff, Bang Tango, Dmolls) was there to pick up his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14. All of these bands are sounding great, and I hope this tour comes around again. Check out the link below for clips from the show. Thanks Again Frankie. I always appreciate your time and counsel. Looking forward to seeing Quiet Riot live again very soon....

ARTIMUS PYLE-THE LEGEND BEHIND THE SOUND OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD-BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--6.5 X 14~

Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame drummer Artimus Pyle just received his Beier 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14, & I am very happy about it. He will be using the drum live with The Artimus Pyle Band starting 12/4 at their next show. Will update this story as clips and audio come in here. I met Artimus through one of the all-time greats in music, ardent long time supporter of Beier Drums, and all-around great guy-Monte Yoho of The Outlaws. I saw The Artimus Pyle Band that day, and they were incredible. Thanks Again Artimus. I appreciate your interest, your communication on the drum, and am looking forward to working with you for a long time to come.

DENNIS DIKEN-LIVE CLIPS WITH THE SMITHEREENS & DAVE DAVIES OF THE KINKS-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14

I was fortunate enough to see Dennis Diken perform twice in the last month: Once with The Smithereens, and the second time on Dave Davies solo tour. Both times Dennis used the Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 live, and he also has been using it in shows with The Smithereens. I was introduced to him by Brad Elvis. He is a super nice guy, and he also is a spectacular drummer. There are a number of new clips on my You Tube Channel of his solo, and songs live with The Smithereens and Dave Davies. Thanks Again Dennis....Looking forward to seeing The Smithereens live soon~

BRAD ELVIS-THE ROMANTICS-NEW LIVE VIDEO CLIP--

Recently posted an excellent live clip of Brad Elvis with The Romantics and his Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. This was from last month's show at The Arcada Theater in St. Charles, Illinois. As I said in my initial post in October...This was an amazingly fun show, and Brad Elvis's playing say's it all. I asked Brad, and he said he does not solo per se. But his fills are something I simply have to catch on video next time I see him live with his band The Handcuffs, or with The Romantics. They are....Amazing. Thanks for sending this Brad...Look forward to seeing you soon....

NASHVILLE'S MICHAEL GRANDO LIVE WITH JOE DIFFIE-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14~

Nashville's Michael Grando just sent me a message, and is now using his Beier 1.5 Steel Snare--5.5 x 14 as his go-to drum, and I was very happy to hear this. For many years he was Chris Knight's drummer & appeared on his "Heart Of Stone" album & "Little Victories". After years of touring with Chris, he left to pursue other projects. In 2013 he took the drum seat for multi-platinum recording artist Joe Diffie, and continues to perform live with him. He has also recorded and/or performed with Charlie Daniels, Jason Aldean, Dan Baird, Todd Snider, Warner E. Hodges (Jason & The Scorchers), Bomshel, Cowboy Troy, Mike Aiken, Austin Cunningham,  Shawn Mullins, Kristen Hall, Francine Reed, Col. Bruce Hampton, "Big Bill" Morganfield, Blueground Undergrass, and many others. Link below for live dates for Joe Diffie. Thanks Michael Grando for your support.....I really appreciate it.

MIKE COLLINS-METTS RYAN & COLLINS-NEW VIDEO AND ALBUM~

I recently heard from Mike Collins (Throwback Suburbia/Dilana/Earl Slick), and he sent me a link to the video for the song "Oregon" from Metts Ryan & Collins upcoming self-titled debut release. Mike used the Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on this record, and his sound, and this band are simply phenomenal. Check out the link for the video below. Metts Ryan & Collins will also be playing January 24th at an industry party in LA on the Strip. Please check their Facebook for details as the location is announced. Congrats Mike on some great work. SIMON WRIGHT'S 1998 BIRCH CRAVIOTTO SNARE AVAILABLE ON EBAY~

I saw Simon Wright's 1998 Solid Shell Birch Snare on Ebay, and simply had to note this for several reasons:

*These drums are considered relatively rare, and are very cherished by players. This was the time of Johnny Craviotto's career when he was working with DW-1998. He then went on as well all know to start Craviotto Drums, and become one of the greatest drum manufacturers since the day's of Nile's. The drum is a solid Birch Shell--5.5 x 14, has 10 Brass Turret Lugs, is stamped with the "A" inside the shell, has the Black & Gold Badge with serial number, and is signed by Johnny Craviotto and Simon Wright. The hoops are replacements, and are new. This drum was used as a back-up. Solid Birch shells are scarce, and this drum from Johnny Craviotto is even more so.

*Without a doubt, Simon Wright (UFO, AC/DC, Rhino Bucket, Dio, Dio Disciples, Geoff Tate's Queensryche-Now Operation Mindcrime, Hellion) has had one of the, if not the most successful career in music history in Hard Rock/Metal drumming. The chance to own a drum that Simon Wright owned is a true opportunity. I have seen him play many times, and from early on to present day, his skill level never changes. In short-He simply does not miss, has enormous power coupled with finesse, and is simply an amazing & naturally talented player The most recent example is his work on Hellion's latest release: "Karma's A Bitch". This is an incredible record, but what he did on the song "Betrayer" illustrates it perfectly.
