LARRY MITCHELL IN THE STUDIO WITH THE STRAY CAT LEE ROCKER-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--4 X 15....

Larry Mitchell, the touring and studio drummer for Lee Rocker, was recently in the studio with one of his mains: The Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15. This is a drum he uses live on the road as well, and has since the day he started with it.

I have mentioned this before, but will mention it again & again: This band completely knocked me out when I saw them last Summer, and can honestly say it is mind-blowing how great they are. As they roll through their original material, and tunes from the Stray Cats...Larry illustrates why he holds the seat in this great gig. He is an amazing drummer, a great guy, and is a full-circle pro. He is someone I am very happy to know, and am looking forward to working with him for a long time to come.

Please see the links below to several live clips of the band from a recent show at SEMA, and check out this band when they are in and near your town. I will have some upcoming news as well on a very special project this band is going to be involved with at a very historic studio.

Looking forward forward to seeing you soon Larry!

CAHD MELCHERT-GORD BAMFORD'S LIVIN ON SUMMERTIME AUSTRALIA TOUR-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14...KASEY TODD-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--7.5 X 15...

Chad Melchert is fresh off Gord Bamford's hugely successful Neon Smoke Tour through Canada, and he is in Australia right now to start the dates for the Livin On Summertime Tour. He will have his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 for the Australian dates, and had that along on the tour through Canada as well. He also had along his 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15.

Thanks going out to Kasey Todd as well. Aaron Goodwin was on the Neon Smoke Tour with Kasey behind the kit, and it was great he had a chance to use Chad's 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15 live (Thanks Chad!), and was able to get his feedback on the drum. He also is the touring drummer for Tonic, and am hoping to catch him live soon with them.

Thanks Again Chad...Have fun in Australia! Kasey...Thank You as well, I really appreciated you taking time out, and for you providing your thoughts....

NEW SINGLES FROM BILL LEVERTY OF FIREHOUSE-MICHAEL FOSTER-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

Bill Leverty just released several singles with Michael Foster on drums: Memorable & Love Is Like A Song. I said it today on several media sites, and it is so worth repeating: It is not everyday that two of your musical heroes, and one of your favorite drummers use your drum on a new release. I was a huge fan of Firehouse the minute they hit the scene, still am to this day, and always will be. They are some of the greatest guy's I know, and some of the best musicians in this business.

Michael used his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on Love Is Like A Song. He also has used that same drum on Bill's single You're A Natural, and also used an early Brass snare from Beier Drums on Bill's masterful instrumental release: Southern Exposure. Both of these guy's just completely said it all musically on that album.

Please check out the link below to pick up these singles from Bill. Again....Thank You both for everything....This was....Amazing! Hope to see you both very soon....

AUSTRALIA'S RICHIE JARVIS-I AM DRUMMER-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--4 X 15....

Australia drumming legend, Richie Jarvis, recently did a video review of the Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 for his channel-I Am Drummer. He has always been incredibly supportive of not only my work, but many others, and it was great to finally get a drum to him for his thoughts and ideas on it. That drum has been incredibly popular, and I manufactured dozens of them last year alone here.

In short, the drum went over huge with Richie. His channel is relatively new, but has been a big hit with everyone. It is very entertaining, but very specific and serious at the same time. He is pulling from a lifetime of knowledge and playing, and I truly think think it will grow into one of the primary channels for snare drum reviews on the web. It is no wonder he is the go-to player for DW for reviews on their gear. Total respect from me to DW as well, I have used their Mag Strainer/3-Way Butt Plate for years, and it is one of the, if not the most popular strainer out today.

He recently as well started a Patreon Channel. I love Patreon, and belong to his channel and Mike Dawson's. It is well done, and a true way to support musicians in their work....At a ridiculously minimal cost. Link below to his, and Mike Dawson's channel. Supporting musicians in their work whether it is Patreon, buying a record/single, and attending their shows is more important than it ever has been. Music by it's nature has to evolve, and it cannot do that without backing from fans.

Thank You Again Richie. Like everyone say's about you, your a great guy, and you are truly the consummate pro from A-Z.....

TRACY BROUSSARD-BLAKE SHELTON'S COUTNRY MUSIC FREAKS TOUR-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

Tracy Broussard is a Nashville legend, one of the great players on the music scene, an amazing family man, and is just an all-around good guy. He will be playing tonight, which will be the first show of Blake Shelton's Country Music Freaks Tour, in Bossier City, Louisiana. I was really thrilled, as I always am, to see he is going to have along his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 for the tour. This will be the third consecutive tour that drum has been his main, and am really looking forward to seeing him and this band again this summer in Milwaukee.

This tour as well will bring him into a new drum from Beier Drums. Only three players have one, and it has gone over exceptionally well live, and in the studio. More on that later....!

Thank You Tracy....See you soon.....

BEN HARRISON-INSTAGRAM'S SNARE SOURCE-BRINGING BACK THE 15" SNARE DRUM-BEIER DRUMS...

Huge Thanks going out to Ben Harrison who runs #snaresource on Instagram for this. This has been a primary focus for Beier Drums since Day 1 here, and it has been a big success.

This particular drum in this picture, the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15, was my first design, and was the first one I manufactured. The drum is also offered in a 4 x 15, 6.5 x 15, and a 7.5 x 15 which is the most recent drum, and will be the last size of the series. All of these sizes have been used worldwide in virtually any type of concert setting and studio, and have been featured on numerous records.

The 4 x 15 was the conception of one of Nashville's finest all around drummers and people-Mark Beckett. Mark is the touring drummer for Olivia Newton John, one of two house drummers for the Grand Ole Opry, and is a first call session player in Nashville. He shares the seat at the Opry with one of the top sessions players of all-time-Eddie Bayer's. Eddie has three drums from here, including a 4 x 15 which he has used extensively.

This was a truly remarkable post from you Ben, and again....I really want to tell you how much I appreciated this. Doing this is tine consuming, it was extremely thoughtful, and is something I will always appreciate.

TROY FREUND-ALUMNI BAND NIGHT-2018-MAYVILLE, WISCONSIN-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

Long time pal, and hands down one of the most talented full-time professional photographers I know, Troy Freund, recently popped up in a pic with his Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. He has had this drum for years, was one of my early customers, has always been a huge supporter of Beier Drums, has been an incredible friend, and has taken some of the best images ever of my drums.

Troy used the drum at the Alumni Band Night this year, and last year in Mayville for their Alumni Band Night. He uses the drum regularly, and the image below of the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 that he took, is an image that is timeless here. He also did the image of an earlier 2.0 Brass--6 x 14 that I offered (Pic Below), and has used my drums and myself in his promotional material.

Thank You Troy...It is always wonderful to hear from you, and really am happy we have stayed in touch over the years. I hope I can attend and participate in the lecture series next time, that would be a LOT of fun to do, and really regret missing it. But to honor my Hoosier roots, and my love of growing up in Indiana...Everything here has plum gone hog wild, and just could not do it.

See you soon my friend....

MODERN DRUMMER PODCAST WITH MIKE AND MIKE-JANUARY 2017-EPISODE 123-THE 2017 WRAP UP SHOW-MIKE DAWSON COMMENTS ON THE LINE OF BEIER 1.5 STEEL 15" SERIES...

Once again this month...I want to send out a Thank You to Mike Dawson for the mention in Episode 123, The 2017 Wrap Up Show, on the Modern Drummer Podcast. I listen to this podcast regularly which has a huge following. Mike Dawson & Mike Johnston have always done a knockout job with this...It is academic in it's approach, pointedly informative, and entertaining as well-These guy's crack me up....They are VERY funny. Perfect balance of everything. Both of these guy's are the pinnacle of professionalism, and to be mentioned on their podcast is something very special. Thanks going out to Lucas Farran for your comments on the Podcast and my drums. Great to make your acquaintance!

Thanks Again Mike for your comments on my efforts to bring the 15" snare drum back to this industry. That is part of what I set out to do...Bring out an original, identifiable & consistent sound, and offer it to drummers everywhere. There are hundreds of  my 15" drums out on the music scene now, on tour, in studios, and on records. My attitude is is that when I finish a drum, and ship it out, I have done my best. The evaluation and thoughts on them, I leave to drummers. I am not a promoter, and have never been a good "Closer". That is of little to no interest to me. What I am interested in is when a drummer texts me from a tiny bar in the middle of Missouri to tell me his 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 is lighting him, and the band up. That....Is what music was intended to be. That....Is what I set out to do.

Being in any aspect of the music business is probably the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. It is difficult for everyone...No matter what part of it you are involved in. And if your truly making your drums and shells, it is compounded greatly.  But despite the nature of this business, it is the most rewarding and incredible thing I have ever done. And...I am just getting started.....

CHAD MELCHERT-GORD BAMFORD-NEON SMOKE TOUR-JANUARY 2018...BEIER 1.5 STEEL--7.5 X 15...

Chad Melchert is the consummate pro, supporter, gentleman, & friend. He is also one of the most admired & respected drummers in Canada. I have been lucky enough that he connected with my gear several years ago, and he has used all three of his snare drums live and in the studio from Beier Drums non-stop since then.

Chad currently has a 1.5 Steel--4 x 15, 6.5 x 14 & most recently a 7.5 x 15. He will be heading out the end of January with Gord Bamford on the Neon Smoke Tour 2018, and will have his 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15 with him for that. That drum will also be heading to Australia with him in Spring for their Australian Tour.

Thanks Again Chad Melchert! Really looking forward to your feedback from the tour this month with the drum....

TODD SUCHERMAN IN HIS STUDIO...FINALLY GEORGE PROJECT...GERMANY...BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 15....

One of the world's greatest drummers, Todd Sucherman, recently released a preview of a song he is working on for a Germany based artist...Finally George. This record will be released this Spring, and I will be picking it up the second it is out! Todd was kind enough to use his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 on the chorus section of this tune, and when artists include my gear in their work....That is as good as it get's for a drumsmith like myself.

I can remember making this drum, and it is now in the hands of one of the most respected and admired drummers in the business. I have known Todd for a long time now, and he unfailingly, like all top-tier pro's, is full of enthusiasm, respect, positive energy, and has time for everyone.

Thank You Again Todd....Very much looking forward to this...Look forward to seeing you soon....

MODERN DRUMMER-FEBRUARY 2018-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 15 & 7.5 X 15.....

The article in Modern Drummer on the Beier 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 15 & 7.5 x 15 in the February 2018 is out, and I just could not be more delighted with it. This is a follow up to the article in the February 2016 issue on the Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 & 5.5 x 15.

Mike Dawson is, as I have said before, one of the great players on the scene today, and is also the quintessential journalist of this business. And quite literally...Everyone and anyone you will talk to would agree. He is a massive talent, unbelievably inquisitive, is extremely detailed, and truly get's to the heart of what drum he is using, and the music he is playing with it. He is a master at timely communication, and again....As anyone & everyone would say...Is someone who is held in high esteem as a person.

I set out to bring the 15" snare drum back to this industry, and it really is an incredible honor to have them featured in two issues of Modern Drummer...THE magazine of this business. Thank You Mike Dawson For Everything....

WARRANT LIVE IN MILWAUKEE...STEVEN SWEET....

I have been a huge fan of Warrant since their beginning, and this band today is as rockin as they always have been. I have been waiting for them to come around, and finally got to see Steven Sweet live with them again.

It has been several years since I have seen Steven. Michael Foster of Firehouse introduced me to him, & told me years ago he was one of the nicest guy's in Rock, and that is exactly what he is. He also is one of Rock's great drummers, and always has been. He is someone who has always been incredibly nice to me, and it is always a lot of fun catching up when I see him.

This band is like many from that era, in some way's they are better than they ever were....And they were great to begin with. Their latest release: Louder-Harder-Faster is an amazing full out Hard Rock record in the vein of the way records used to sound. Literally, every single song is a knockout. The songs performed live from it at the show were as well. This record to me, and to the reviews that you will read...Is a record to be proud of, and honors this band perfectly. Robert Mason is so perfect for this band, I don't see him as a replacement. He is an incredible asset, musician, and is also a helluva nice guy.

Steven has toured with a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 for the last three years, and also has one of the first 1.5 Steel--8 x 15's I produced. Primarily he uses the 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on the road, and that is true source of pride here at Beier Drums.

Thank You Again Steven for using my gear, mentioning me on the album sleeve, giving me a copy of this record in CD, your friendship & support, ticket, and for dinner. This show was a huge hit with everyone there, and hope to see you and the band soon....
