BLACKBERRY SMOKE ROLLS THROUGH MILWAUKEE-BRIT TURNER-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14~

I just had the amazing opportunity to get together with Brit Turner of Blackberry Smoke when they rolled through Milwaukee recently. I have always been a huge fan of Southern Rock, and these guys, without a doubt, are one of the finest out there. I dropped off Brit's 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 to him to try in Sound Check, and he used it for the entire show. It is always a huge honor to see your drum being used by such a skilled player in such an unbelievable band. Going through the clips right now, and will be posting them in several weeks. Special Thanks to Monte Yoho of The Outlaws for the introduction, and Thank You Brit & Blackberry Smoke for the opportunity to come out.

TOMMY HARDEN AND HIS BEIER 1.5 STEEL--4 X 15....THE FIRST ONE IN TEXTURED BLACK~

Nashville legend, session player, and long time Reba McEntire drummer Tommy Harden just received his Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 this last week, and absolutely loved it. He was looking to fill a void in mid-range tones he was missing in his selection of drums, and this drum filled it. The word "Piccolo" most always brings to mind a high pitched, high tension sound. This drum-The 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 is not that. The Mid/Bottom and dynamics on this drum are enormous. This was also the first one done in Black Texture Coating. The other color this drum is offered in is Gloss White. This entire drum was the idea of Mark Beckett-The color, the specs, the type of lugs, etc.., I was simply the person who manufactured it. So the credit goes to Mark, along with a huge Thank You from me. Tommy heard this drum at a show at the Winstar Casino when Mark was performing with Olivia Newton John. He loved the drum, and I could not be happier he now has one. Right out of the box he used it on a song for The Nashville Show. Like always, I will update this article as material comes out. Thanks Tommy...Looking forward to working with you. Check for tour dates to see him live, & see the YouTube links below for clips of the Olivia Newton John show where Tommy saw Mark with the 1.5 Steel--4 x 15...

ACHIM FAERBER-NEW RELEASES FROM PRAG-EISBRECHER-AUTOMAT-MARTIN DEAN

Achim Faerber, one of Europe's premier talents, has been extremely busy as always, & has a number of new releases with him behind the kit this month. Prag, one of Germany's top acts, has just released their new album on 1/16: "Kein Abschied". Achim used the Beier 1.5 Steel on this entire record, and also uses a variety of sizes in the 1.5 Steel Series live with Prag-Exclusively. Guy Sternberg of  LowSwing Studio produced, recorded, and mixed the entire record. Industrial metal titans Eisbrecher will also be releasing  their latest on January 23rd: "Schock". Achim has used several sizes of the 1.5 Steel Series live with them. Also the tracks for the upcoming follow up for Automat have been completed, and are in the mixing process. All of the tracks were recorded with the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14, and a 8 x 12 wooden snare as an auxiliary. They were done at one of Berlins most historic sites-Candybomber Studios. The producer, Ingo Krauss, comes from the same school of thought as the legendary engineer/producer Conny Plank, and continues this work. The release for this record is May 2015. As well, Automat will be issuing a collaboration of electronic musicians on vinyl of tracks recorded with Max Loderbauer on March 13th, 2015. Four tracks, and available in download format also. Achim is also featured on yet another release for tomorrow-Martin Dean's new record: "Dr. Blue & Mr. Gold".

Thanks as always Achim for using one of your many 1.5 Steel Series Snares live and in the studio, the album credits, & your support. Congratulations on all of your amazing work with some of the finest bands & engineers in today's music~

"When I bought the 1.5--5.5 x 14 Steel Snare, I didn't think this drum would turn out to be THE snare drum for me. Besides my 1960 Slingerland Artist in 5.5 x 14, it is my first choice in the studio, or live...."     Achim Faerber

DAVID NORTHRUP-LIVE ON TOUR-THE OAK RIDGE BOYS CHRISTMAS TOUR-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14~

I had the amazing opportunity to get together with Nashville legend David Northrup when The Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Tour rolled through this last weekend. It was their 40th Anniversary. To sum it up: It was a dazzling display of professionalism and talent. There is a reason they are on their fourth decade of live performance, and quite literally, their third generation of fans.

David has used my 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on the track "My Guns" with Mike McCarroll (link below), and most recently on a Contemporary Christian track for a record which will be out any time now. He used his new 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 for the first part of this show, and it went spectacularly well. According to him...Even the Sound Engineer absolutely loved the drum. This type of feedback is always wonderful to hear here, especially coming from a player of this caliber. His touring/recording credits are incredibly extensive & include, to name a few...Travis Tritt, John Waite, Wynonna, John Mellencamp, Tanya Tucker, Pam Tillis, Joe Diffie, and on it goes. He was also voted the #2 Country Drummer in the Modern Drummer Readers Poll in 2009, and #2 Clinician in 2010. He will be using his new 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on tour with The Oak Ridge Boys for the 2015.  Live clips of this show will be posted in the next couple of weeks, and will update this post. I told him several times, but will say it again here: Thank You David Northrup....I appreciate your time and interest in Beier Drums.....

ACHIM FAERBER-ACOUSTIC TOUR-PETER HEPPNER-UPDATE & VIDEO~

Achim Faerber (Eisbrecher, Project Pitchfork, Prag, Automat) recently completed a very successful & mostly sold-out acoustic tour with Peter Heppner in Germany. It was so well received...It will be continued in September 2015. Achim told me it was a very interesting experience for him using only mallets, brushes & shakers for the entire tour. He did not use any sticks. Quite a diversion from his heavy hitting duties for Eisbrecher & Project Pitchfork. He also used the Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 for all of the shows as he does in Project Pitchfork, Prag & Automat. Link below for an excellent clip from the tour. Regarding the photo he sent below...:

"A small shaker in the right hand, left hand just slaps the 5.5 x 14 steel snare, and the only bass you hear in the room is my 14 x 26 Broadcaster Bass Drum from 1937.  Love it..."
