Jamo Van de Bogert recently was in session with Michael Wagener at his studio, and I was delighted to hear he had his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 with him. He has two other snare drums from Beier Drums: 1.5 Steel--4 x 15, & 5.5 x 14. This particular one, the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15, is his favorite of all of them.
Jamo spent years playing and working as a tech with Greg Allman, and is widely active within the industry. One of his current gigs is with one of my favorite people and drummers in this business... Tony Escapa of Ricky Martin.
He is also someone I consult when I need solid advice in this business, and he unfailingly has words of wisdom. Thanks for the chat recently Jamo!
Michael Wagener (Metallica, Tesla, Dokken, Motley Crue) of WireWorld Studio is still one of today's leading producers/engineers, and has an endless list of credits. His recent work on Tesla's "Simplicity" is easily one of the best produced albums in recent years. He also absolutely loved the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 as well, that was wonderful to hear.
