JULES RADINO-AT&T AUDIENCE NETWORK CONCERT SERIES-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14...

Special Thank You this morning going out to Jules Radino of Blue Oyster Cult. Last month the band was featured in the AT &T Audience Network Concert Series, and they performed Agents Of Fortune in it's entirety. Jules used his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 which has been his main snare on the road for several years now. He has also performed live with Blue Oyster Cult and his additional projects with his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 & 4 x 15.

I got to know Jules through long time supporter and pal-Monte Yoho of The Outlaws. Have had a lot of good times with him and the band. I always look forward to seeing them because it is such a guaranteed great time. And, as this clip illustrates, they unfailingly show why they are one the greatest bands in Rock history.

See you soon Jules!

FRANK VILARDI OF THE BACON BROTHERS-1948 LEEDY SNARE~

Sending out an enormous THANK YOU! to Frank Vilardi for sending me this gift of a Leedy Broadway Standard dated May 1948 this week. You really blindsided me with this Frank, and I am just floored. This drum is all original and mint. I took the batter head off and I am quite sure it has never been off since 1948. Incredibly thoughtful, and again...Cannot tell you how thrilled I am to have this drum. It is in the right place....Trust me!
Frank is a long time supporter of Beier Drums, and someone who took time out for my gear from the beginning. He spent years touring the world with Jewel, and also with Donny Osmond. His gig now for many years has been with the Bacon Brothers. Have had a lot of great times with these guys, and they are just an awesome band from A-Z. Frank also has three of my drums, and always tours with the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 & 6.5 x 14.
Thanks Again Frank! Will see you soon....

GARRETT GOODWIN-2016 STORYTELLER TOUR-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14, 6.5 X 14, 4 X 15.....

Several weeks ago, and for the second time on Carrie Underwood's Storyteller Tour, I got to see Garrett Goodwin live. This time it was in Milwaukee at the Bradley Center, and as anyone might expect, it was an incredible display from a show standpoint, and most importantly...From a talent standpoint.

You don't see many tours like this these day's, and this one will go down as one the best ever in scope & performance. Carrie Underwood's vocals are so good, it is almost beyond reason at times. Add in her grace, class, & humbleness on stage, it makes her already mythological in Country Music.

Garrett Goodwin has been behind the kit with her for almost a decade now, and there is no doubt he is one of the great performers today. The set-up of his kit, which has been commented on many times...is one the most unique in all of music. And like all great drummers do....he moves around it and through it, effortlessly & perfectly. IOW....This guy does not miss. This last show I had a really good angle on the stage, and could watch him play more closely. It was simply unreal. Him & the entire band are as they say...Like clockwork. Every single one of them is a world class musician, and this is one of the best bands not only in Country Music, but in ALL of music today.

Garrett has used the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14, 6.5 x 14 live for this tour for the show, and also started up with a 4 x 15 in the last several weeks. Regarding the 4 x 15, he mentioned to me that he was "Lovin the snare!". That was very welcome news here.

Thank You Garrett for your time, and for using my gear. I really, really appreciate everything....

NEW SINGLE FROM PLENTY HEAVY-MIKE HANSEN....BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 15...

Big Thank You going out to Mike Hansen (Plenty Heavy, Hurricane, Steve Vai, George Lynch) this morning. Greg Marra's band, Plenty Heavy, has a new single that is being released worldwide today: "Another Bad Day", and Mike used his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 on it.

The 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 is Mike's primary drum for live performance and studio work. And as I have told him many times...The way he has the drum set up and tuned....It is perfect. He uses Aquarian Vintage heads which I am huge fan of also.

Congrats you guys on another release....And again to you Mike for keeping the drum in constant use..

NEW ALBUM FROM OLIIVIA NEWTON JOHN-MARK BECKETT-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--4 X 15~

"Liv On" is a collaborative effort recently released that features Amy Sky, Olivia Newton John, & Beth Nielsen Chapman. This is a wonderful project, & the  record "Is intended to aid & comfort those experiencing grief & loss , while using the power of music to heal"....

Mark Beckett used his 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 on this entire record, & he also uses it live exclusively with Olivia in Las Vegas, and on the road.

THEODORE BROWN.....BEIER 1.5 STEEL--8 X 15....

From the first time I talked to Theo Brown, we have been pals. He is just one of those drummers that is interested in anything & everything drums, is amazingly knowledgeable, and just is an all-around great person to deal with. He plays a Beier 1.5 Steel--8 x 15 equipped with Aquarian Heads, and that is his main go-to drum.

As a former touring musician coming out of Philadelphia he has performed with Randy Brecker, Eliane Elias, Luther Allison, Bernard Allison, Kenny Neal, and many others. Theo now resides in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with his family, works for Long & McQuade Musical Instruments, and is as active in his pursuits in playing as ever.

He is also 100% responsible for the reason Beier Drums are in Long & McQuade stores across Canada. I have had a really warm reception with that company, and it is without a doubt one of the most professional organizations in this entire industry. No matter who you contact regarding anything...You get an almost instant & complete response. There is a wide array of my drums spread across those stores, and I could not be happier about that.

Thank You Theo Brown for all of your support & enthusiasm for my gear, and  your friendship which I truly value. Yeah, you are my Brother from another Mother....No doubt.

FIREHOUSE 25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR-MICHAEL FOSTER-1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14.....

Recently I got to check in with one of my all-time favorite bands, and without a doubt some of the coolest guys in the music business: Firehouse. They are still at the top of their game, and the show, as always, was incredible.

I am always kind of bouncing off the walls when these guys come around....It is always a great time. My pal Jamo Van de Bogert hooked me up with them some years ago now, and they unfailingly & never cease to amaze me how great of a band they are. This particular tour was their 25th Anniversary Tour, and it was really important for me to see a show on this. I have been a fan since Day 1 of this band.

Michael Foster, long regarded as one of Rock's great drummers, has three of my drums that he has used at select shows live: An earlier Brass snare, a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 & 6.5 x 15. He also used one on Bill Leverty's solo-instrumental record: "Southern Exposure". This most recent show he used a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. I wanted him to give this drum a whirl, and that went incredibly well with a great vibe from his tech Joey Arias, and one of the best FOH guys in the business: Tony Avitar.

Thanks Michael for taking time out which you have since the beginning, and for the T-Shirts. It was great to see all of you. Please do check out Bill Leverty's website & new single "Strong" as well.....

MODERN DRUMMER PODCAST-MIKE & MIKE-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 15.....

It was great to be mentioned by Mike Dawson in the Gear Section recently in Episode 56 of the Modern Drummer Podcast with Mike & Mike. Also included was a Product Close-Up Video of the drum by Mike Dawson. This will be included in an upcoming issue of Modern Drummer.

This podcast, by far and away...Is my favorite. It is very educational, casual at the same time, and to be honest...They both really crack me up. It is funny! But in all of that, they have the perfect balance of all of those. I find myself at the end of these retaining so much more than I usually do from other broadcasts, and also find it much easier to follow throughout it. In short...They just do a phenomenal job with this.

Sometimes when I listen to episodes, it reminds me of when I was in college. Everyone has had/has a teacher who had a light-hearted & humorous approach, but also was very intelligent, educated, and ultra-qualified to talk about what they were/are teaching. That was the teacher you learned the most from, and retained information from most easily. That is the Modern Drummer Podcast with Mike Johnston & Mike Dawson. I really hope these two keep this going for a long time to come...It is too good not to be out there.

Thanks Again Mike Dawson.....

JULES RADINO-ATT AUDIENCE NETWORK-BLUE OYSTER CULT-1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14...

Blue Oyster Cult recently taped a show for ATT Audience Network that aired on September 2nd. It was recorded at Red Studios in Los Angeles, & they were performing their legendary album Agents Of Fortune in it's entirety.

Jules Radino has been using my snare drums a lot for the last three years, and plays live on the road with a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14. For that show, he used that drum as well. He also has and has used his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 & 4 x 15 live with BOC, and with other bands.

It is so great these guys come around often to this area. They are a very enduring and popular act, and arguably are one of the most influential bands in the history of Rock. I lost track a long time ago the number of bands out there that have stated they were inspired & influenced by them. I always marvel at how great they are live, and always have the best time with them. They are pretty hilarious to be around, and it is a lot fun catching up. Add to that, they recently have been taking Jim Mears out with them. Jim is, hands down, one of the best TM' and Drum Tech's out there, and is an excellent drummer to boot.

Thanks Again Jules Radino for everything. See you all soon....

JASON HARTLESS & RANDY WALKER-TED NUGENT'S SONIC BAPTIZM TOUR-1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

I recently got to see Ted Nugent live, and had the good fortune to be able to have my 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on this tour as a back-up snare for Pearl Artist-Jason Hartless.

Long time friend, and huge supporter...Randy Walker has always been a big believer in what I am up to here at Beier Drums. He introduced me to Jason, as well as many others. He currently has three of my drums in his studio-Media 22 Productions in Scottsdale, AZ. His 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 is his primary go-to as well. October will also bring him into a 1.5 Steel--8 x 14. Randy is a multi-dimensional talented drummer & engineer. He has performed live with Pat Travers, with Eddie Money unplugged, & played on Steve Oliver's hit record "World Citizen," on "Watching The World". For that he used one of my drums as well. He also has done extensive engineering & studio work with David Ellefson, Tesla, and a slew of others.

Jason Hartless is already widely known in the early phases of his career, and for good reason. Bottom line, and to repeat something I have said many times since the show: He is the finest drummer Ted Nugent has ever taken out on tour. All of Nugent's bands have been great....Always. But this line-up, with Greg Smith again on Bass....Is unmatched. And it is one those deals, like we all have experienced, you know it from the first song into the set. I was thinking..."Whoa....Here we go....!"

Jason is constantly involved in studio work back home in Michigan, has worked with numerous accomplished producers and drummers, and is also a student at Berklee. He is, quite simply, just an incredibly talented & knowledgeable player from A-Z. To have my 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 out on the road with him was awesome. I have watched his studio clips before, and they are great. But live......He just lights it up, in a very big way.

Thanks Again For Everything Jason & Randy. You guys better roll through here next year. This was too good of a time not to repeat!
