RANDY WALKER-IN THE STUDIO WITH DOLL SKIN & THE BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--5.5 X 15~

Randy Walker (22 Media Productions), John Aquilino (Icon), and Dave Ellefson (Megadeth) have been in the studio with Doll Skin-One of Arizona's most aspiring bands. They are recording tracks for an upcoming release, and this band of all girls simply rocks. Drummer, Meghan Herring, has been using the Beier 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 in the studio. They are a combination of punk/progressive & pop, and I am really looking forward to hearing these tracks.

This is a great time to say Thanks Again to my friend Randy Walker. He has been a constant supporter of Beier Drums, and has used them extensively. Also, a huge Thank You as well to John Aquilino for picking a 5.5 x 15 up from Jerry at Music City Asheville for his studio after using Randy's at 22 Media Productions. The 15" drums have been in production here for quite some time, and the 5.5 x 15 is one of my favorites.

Great hearing from you Meghan. Very happy to hear you liked playing the drum, and All The Best to you & the girls in Doll Skin~

DANNY THOMPSON-ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14~

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Danny Thompson of the Alan Parsons Live Project here in Milwaukee at The Pabst Theater. He was using his Beier 1.5 Steel Snare--5.5 x 14 for the night, and I have to say...him and that band, to use an overall term, just floored me.

Of course like all professionals, he is a super nice guy, and so are the members of this band. The band is one of those ultra-refined super tight acts that is just simply overflowing with talent. I cannot remember the last time I saw five-part harmonies, much less flawless one's. Alan Parsons is as strong of a performer as he ever was. I sat on the side of the stage and watched Danny through sound check and the live show. I have been around on the road quite a bit, and have been lucky enough to work with a lot of drummers in the circuit. He has a thunderous style with a fine touch, simply does not miss, and without a doubt is one of the greats.

I have some excellent clips from the live show of him playing, and will update this story when they are done. Thanks Again Danny. Looking forward to seeing this incredible band sometime very soon...

NEW RELEASE FROM AUTOMAT-MAY 29TH-ACHIM FAERBER

One of Europe's busiest and leading talents, Achim Faerber (Eisbrecher, Project Pitchfork, Prag) is as active and busy as always. German electronic music artists Automat, one of the many projects he is involved in,  is set to release their third album in less than two years on May 29th-PlusMinus. They are also gearing up for a tour of Australia later this year in addition to performing throughout Europe. Achim is also on tour with the mighty Eisbrecher this Summer. Congrats Achim. Absolutely...You are one of the busiest players I know. PlusMinus will mark the sixth release in the last 6 months for you if I have my math correct. Thank You for using the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on the new Automat record and live with the band, with Prag in the studio and live, and exclusively with Project Pitchfork live. Look forward to your thoughts on your 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 13 this Summer.

Last pic is Achim in the famed Candybomber Studio in Berlin. He just recorded another album with Danny Dziuk for a 2015 Fall release, and used the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on the entire album. Link below is an excellent article and review of Automat's PlusMinus, and an audio of one of the tracks...

JULES RADINO-BLUE OYSTER CULT LIVE-BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--4 X 15~

Was at The Arcada Theater in St. Charles, Illinois several weeks ago for Blue Oyster Cult. Jules Radino was using his Beier 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 live, and it was a fun night. I have seen Blue Oyster Cult many times, and they are always great. Something about this night where they just lit it up...The whole band. It is always interesting to watch an audience from the side of the stage. In this case...Every single person in that audience was moving and lovin this show.

The 4 x 15 met with huge approval from Jules, Woody from the FOH, techs, & quite literally everyone. This drum is heavy on Mids, and has a great Bottom. Jules is an exceptional talent, and his opinion means a lot to me on drums. I have some excellent clips which are going up next week. One is a webcam of the live show from the side of his kit. Thank You Jules.

Special Thanks as well to Roy Nichol from April Wine. I appreciate you taking time out, and enjoyed our drum talk...

UFO-ANDY PARKER-CONSPIRACY OF STARS TOUR-SECOND LEG-BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--6.5 X 15....

UFO just completed the second link of their European Tour to support their new release "Conspiracy Of Stars". They will be back in Europe on June 26th to start another short run, and be back in the Fall for a lengthy one. UFO fans are among some of the most loyal in Rock, and the band is top form as always. They truly sound amazing, and their live show is as great as ever.

I also just completed coating a Beier 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 15 for Andy to take along on this last run. This one was in Gloss White, and from the initial feedback from Andy & the techs...It is going over really well. Link below to clips from live shows, and several pics of Andy's live gear: Three Beier Snare Drums that he uses exclusively, and has for quite some time.

Special Thank You to Robb Philpotts & Eric Holshouser for all of the pics and clips. And also Kate...I appreciate your quick communication-Always! Links below for live clips....

JAMO VAN DE BOGERT-BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--5.5 X 15....FIRST IN GLOSS WHITE & TUBE LUGS

Was great to see my friend, and consummate player-Jamo Van De Bogert yesterday. He picked up  which is the first 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15 in Gloss White This is also the first one in this size I have used Tube Lugs on. I have made many of these drums in this size as well, but always in Textured Black. Initial feedback from him was a major thumbs up, which of course...I was delighted to hear. He also has had a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 which has been his go-to for quite some time. Jamo has been involved in the music industry for quite some time, and has worked and performed with many different acts. He had a long run working and performing with Greg Allman, even sharing the stage with Greg & Eric Clapton one performance. When off the road, Jamo also functions as the VP-Rock Central School in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Tx my friend. Looking forward to all of your future feedback, and doing some video clips...

EXCELLENT READ-NSMD ARTICLE BY BOB CAMPBELL ON THE MASTER-JOHHNY CRAVIOTTO~

Wanted to re post the link to one of the best articles I have read in some time. Bob Campbell did this piece on Johnny Craviotto. He is, without a doubt, one of the great drum company stories since the days of Niles. It is a story of old-school diligence, and hard work. The article discusses Adrian Kircher as well, who I consider, and many others do as well...To be the finest metal drum maker in the world. I really appreciate the correspondence Adrian. I will stop for sure when I am back in Europe. Great job on this article Bob.....

"You have to make your own shells to qualify as a drum maker in my book. Guys who make their own shells can look at themselves in the mirror and say, 'Yeah, I make drums, I am a drum maker'. It's got to start with the foundation, like a house, it's got to be the shell. Everything else is just basically assembly"....Johhny Craviotto

NASHVILLE LEGEND DAVID NORTHRUP & HIS BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

Just received a great message from David Northrup (Oak Ridge Boys, Travis Tritt, Wynonna) from Nashville. He used his Beier 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 on a track from a new Christian Artist-Beck Moore. He put single-flange hoops with claws on the drum instead of the triple flange hoops that are on all of my drums.  He wrote the the drum was: "One of THE best sounding snare sounds I think I've had on a track, if not the best". Amazing feedback, and was hugely welcome here-Especially coming from one of Nashville's greats. Am really looking forward to the new release from Beck Moore, and will update this when it is out.

Look for him on tour currently with The Oak Ridge Boys and his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. He will also have a 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 this Summer. Thank You David for everything....

"AMAZING drums, Fell in love with their incredible sound from the first time I played one of Troy Luccketta's. EVERYONE needs a Beier in their arsenal.....period"....David Northrup~

PAT McDONALD LIVE WITH CHARLIE DANIELS BAND-BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE--4 X 15

One of the finest drummers in music and all around good guy-Pat McDonald was in the area last weekend. It was great to see the Charlie Daniels Band back in the area again, and as they always do...They pretty much electrified the audience at The Arcada Theater in St. Charles. There wasn't a single person in that audience that wasn't moving. This band has been together for a long time, and they all come from pretty diverse musical backgrounds. Those styles show on and off during this show, and it comes together in a set that still is one of the great touring acts on the road.

This was the first night for Pat and his new Beier 1.5 Steel Snare--4 x 15. This particular one was in textured black coating. This drum is not your average 4" deep snare. It is heavy on the mids, has a great bottom end, and has an enormous overall response. Feedback from him was that he absolutely loved it. Special thanks as well to Shannon & Chris from the band for your comments....They were very much appreciated.

There are two links below for excellent webcam video clips from the night: One is a solo clip, the second is an hour of the show. This drum will be on the road with Pat along with his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 & 6.5 x 14.

Thanks Again For Everything Pat McDonald....It is an incredible experience watching you play my drums...

JOHN 5 AND THE CREATURES LIVE IN CHICAGO-RODGER CARTER ON DRUMS-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--8 X 15~

I had the remarkable opportunity to see John 5 and The Creatures live in Chicago recently, and Rodger Carter was great as always about sitting down and using one of my drums for the show. This show, it was the new Beier 1.5 Steel Snare--8 x 15. It was the first time out for the drum live or in the studio, and I was really happy he was in town to give the drum it's first spin. The drum has a massive sound of course, and naturally focuses on mids.

This tour was an instrumental tour & was a three piece with newcomer Ian Ross on Bass. It was an amazing and unbelievable display of talent. They are a super tight, powerful, and very rhythmic trio. It is easy to see why they kept adding dates as the tour progressed. I have always been a big fan of instrumental albums, shows, etc.., Gary Hoey has always been one of my favorites, and Bill Leverty's "Southern Exposure" with Michael Foster on drums in recent times are among my favorite records. You simply have to be that good to do it...And these musicians who do it are.

John 5 said they will be doing this again, and it is truly something you will want to see and hear. The crowd absolutely loved this show. I have some excellent video clips I will be posting in the next couple of weeks from the evening. Thanks Again Rodger for putting the 1.5 Steel--8 x 15 to the extreme test. It was awesome to see you again, and am very grateful to have had the opportunity to see John 5 and The Creatures live.

NEW-BEIER 1.5 STEEL SNARE IN 8 X 15 IS NOW AVAILABLE~

The Beier 1.5 Steel in 8 x 15 is now available. This is the final edition to the line of 15" snares, and it was finished this month. First run out at a live show in Chicago was a huge success-With everyone. The general consensus was that the drum was "Crushing".  Massive sound of course, but with equal amounts of tone. The drum is heavy on the mids, with a huge bottom end. I am going through the clips from the show right now, and will be posting Audio & Video. In full production as of this month, and available through dealers. Please do email or call with any questions....
