Achim Faerber (Automat, Project Pitchfork, Eisbrecher, Prag, Peter Heppner) is a German legend, a great friend, and a long-time supporter of Beier Drums.
He was one of the initial players to pick up a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14, and that drum has been one of his mains for years of shows with Automat, Project Pitchfork, Prag, Peter Heppner, and other live acts. It is also been one of his mains in the studio on numerous records (See Records on this this site). He has remarked to me in the past, and by his comment on this site (Video Section), that he never thought a Steel snare drum would be one of his go-to choices.
Achim also has #1 of the 1.5 Steel--4 x 13, and he has had the drum in near constant use since receiving it. It is truly amazing the sounds he has gotten out of the drum. I have some excellent samples on this site in the Audio Section from him. He recently posted the below comment :
"Jim, Thank You again & again. What an incredible snare drum that is!!! Playing this instrument is just pure joy..."
As I have mentioned to him as well on several occasions, he is The Perfect player to have this drum. There will be several new releases forthcoming that he is using the drum on, and again...I would encourage drummers interested in the sound of this drum to visit the Audio Section of this site. His samples....Are incredible.
