GARRETT GOODWIN-THE STORYTELLER TOUR-CARRIE UNDERWOOD-MADISON SQUARE GARDEN-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

Carrie Underwood just released by digital download: The Storyteller Tour-Stories In The Round-Live From Madison Square Garden on November 17th. This was one of the greatest tours to ever hit the road, and I had the privilege of seeing it twice....Thanks to Garrett Goodwin.

Garrett used a number of sizes for certain parts of this show on the tour: 1.5 Steel--4 x 15, 5.5 x 14 & 6.5 x 14. At Madison Square Garden, he used the 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 for select songs in the show, and his DW Snare Drums for the rest. He also has 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15. As well, he had a great article in the March 2017 issue of Modern Drummer where he discusses his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14.

Garrett....Thank You for everything. Your an incredible talent, an amazing live performer, a total and complete professional, and a great guy to boot. This is so wonderful to be able to relive this tour again. Looking forward to seeing this band live again soon....

MAT DONALDSON-NEW VIDEO FROM WESTON HORN AND THE HUSH-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--8 X 14....(UPDATED-11/26)

Mat Donaldson of Drum World Tulsa, and his band, recently released the second video (Shake) from their debut record: Weston Horn & The Hush Vol. I. Mat Donaldson is a life-long pro, and as the owner of Drum World Tulsa has played almost, if not everything there is to play out there. I have always been just thrilled that his choice of a main for live performance, and studio work, has been his 1.5 Steel--8 x 14.

This band knocked me from the beginning of the the first song on their record. (See Latest News-6/19). It is an all-star line-up of Oklahoma's best, and it is little wonder they have had such a great response.

Thank You Mat for everything & Congrats Again on yet another great production. Thanks Again as well to David Howell of Raw Photographic for use of your awesome image.

Update 11/26: Please see the Updated Link below for an excellent clip of Weston Horn & The Hush live last night at Cain's Ballroom-Tulsa, Oklahoma....

BRAD ELVIS-IN THE STUDIO IN CHICAGO-NEW ALBUM FROM THE HANDCUFFS-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14 & 5.5 X 15

Brad Elvis (The Handcuffs, The Romantics, Screams, The Elvis Brothers) just finished up in Kingsize Sound Lab Studio in Chicago for an upcoming release from The Handcuffs. I was really delighted to hear he took his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 in along with his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 15. This is a record I am really, really looking forward to.

Brad is also the drummer for The Romantics, and has used a number of sizes of his snare drums from Beier Drums live with them.

Thank You Brad....I will be your first customer when this record comes out!

MIKE ZIMMERMAN-KENNY ROGERS-THE GAMBLER'S LAST DEAL TOUR-NEW COMPILATION VIDEO-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--6.5 X 14....

In 2016, I saw one of Nashville's greats-Mike Zimmerman, live with Kenny Rogers on The Gamblers Last Deal Tour. It was at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and it was an incredibly fun time. This show is a very special one, and they ended up extending this tour due to the huge response. I was lucky enough to see it one more time recently in Milwaukee....

There is always a lot of laughs and great conversation when visiting with Mike. Him and this band are utterly amazing. The show is a very nostalgic one, and is a review of Kenny's career and life. There is a lot of talking, pictures, etc.., The band comes in and out of this masterfully, and it honestly reminds me of some of the operas I have seen. The Florentine Opera has some of the greatest talents in that business, and this band does as well in this business.

Mike has been using a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 as his main for some time, and it has been his go-to drum for this entire tour. He also has a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 which he uses in his hone studio, and for sessions. He is also starting a new project, and will certainly update the Latest News on that. He also just published a compilation video of his live performance on this tour. It is a must see and listen, link below.

Thank You Mike for giving me the opportunity to see these shows on this tour, for taking time out for my gear, and for all of the great drum talk and laughs. Really looking forward to your work coming up....

DAVID NORTHRUP-LIVE WITH BOZ SCAGGS-ARCADA THEATER-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 12.....

One of the shows I recently saw, and was really anticipating, was Boz Scaggs on his 2017 Tour. And along with that tour came one of the greatest drummers and people I know: Nashville legend, David Northrup. With this caliber of a band, and Boz Scaggs as amazing as he always has been...It was simply an unbelievable night.

David is coming off a long time run with the Oak Ridge Boys, and I was fortunate enough to see him live at three of their Christmas Shows as well. Those shows, will always remain as some of my favorites as well. Music is, as most would agree, one of the most enduring forces on this planet. And those shows hold a special place in my memories.

It was great to see he had along his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 12 for this tour. Other sizes he has used in the past for live shows, tours, records and clinics are the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14, 6.5 x 14, 4 x 15 & 6.5 x 15. I always have 100 questions for drummers when I see them. And as much of a jabberbox as I can be, I listen even more. And when David talks...I am all-ears. His advice and counsel has always been valued here. It is straightforward, practical, applicable, and just plain smart. And, it is rooted in experience from an incredibly successful and long-running career as one of the greatest drummers ever in the industry. He carries huge respect, and it never fails...My phone lights up with drummers and his friends wanting me to say to him when I am at a show. He has been an enormous source of inspiration to drummers everywhere, as he has been to me as a manufacturer.

The first set of four images are from that night, the remainder are from previous tours, sessions, clinics, etc.., The link to the video is a webcam of him live from 2015 with the Oak Ridge Boys & his 1.5 Steel--4 x 15.

Thanks Again David Northrup for everything you have done for me, your support, and your friendship. Looking forward already to seeing you sometime soon....

CHAD MELCHERT AND HIS BEIER 1.5 STEEL--7.5 X 15...PERFORMANCE AT THE CCMA AWARDS WITH GORD BAMFORD-NEW TOUR IN JANUARY 2018....

One of Canada's greatest talents, and all-around good guy...Chad Melchert is simply full-out in his work these day's. I am really Thankful as well that has included a lot of work recently with his new Beier 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15. Donny Lee's new single: "Another Round Of You" will be out on November 9th. This is the first single with the new drum, and Chad mentioned to me the drum was wide open, and had no moon gels. Link below to purchase the single. I am pre-ordered, and am really looking forward to this!

I always anticipate the results of all of his his sessions. He started with this drum on September 20th, and has used it quite a bit already. Included are some pics from a recent session at Sound Extractor Studio's in Edmonton with a vintage Premier kit.  It sounded like he really enjoyed playing the kit, and I have been a long-time fan of vintage Premier drums.

His comment so far..."The Beier 1.5 Steel--7.5 x 15 blew my mind!". Chad is also headed out in January for Gord Bamford's "Neon Smoke Tour". For sessions, as well on the road, he has along the 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 and/or the 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 a lot of the time. Both of these drums have popped up on numerous records with him, (See "Records" section), have been used non-stop live, and for his recent clinic this last Summer.

Enclosed also is a link for a spectacular performance at this year's CCMA Awards. It really is a must see & listen....

Thank You Chad. Incredibly happy to hear you are enjoying that drum, Thank You as always for your support, and Congrats on your new Gretsch Brooklyn 7 x 13!

DONN DENISTON....BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

Wanted to send out a big Thank You to Donn Deniston here. He recently picked up a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14, is really enjoying it, and is putting it to the test. That is what I always hope that players will do....

Looking forward to staying in touch, and your extended thoughts Donn....

"I'm still messing with this Beier snare drum trying to discover it's Achilles' Heel. I have some really nice snare drums, some sound great for a certain "thing" tension, and others are more versatile. But they all have a spot where the sound suffers. But this thing, I've been spending time everyday tuning it high, low, everything in between, swapping out different batter heads, and it always delivers something fun and useful..."

CHRISTOPHER WILLIAMS OF ACCEPT-RISE OF CHAOS TOUR-ST. CHARLES, ILLINOIS-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

Last month brought me back to the Chicago area, this time again I was in St. Charles at one of my favorite venues: The Arcada Theater. The first time I missed them there, this time there was no way I was going to miss seeing Christopher Williams live with Accept. The band is currently supporting their new release: "The Rise Of Chaos", and are currently on a world tour.

Christopher has a 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14, but did not have it along for this show. I brought along a demo for him to try....A 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14. That went over great, and he used it for the show. (Please see link below for video clip).

I am certainly repeating myself from other posts on media, but have to say when it comes to Metal...Christopher Williams is one of the best out there. As well, Accept overall is so great live, you simply have to see them to believe it. From start to finish, they showed why they are true legends, and continue to be.

Thanks Christopher for everything, and also to Scott Diussa & Alan Francis for use of the images. Great meeting you as well at the show Alan!
