SCOTLANDS SAM LUMSDEN-STEVE GADDS TRACK-PAUL SIMON COVER-1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14....

My pal Sam Lumsden, from First Class Drums in Scotland, recently did a cover in video of Paul Simon's "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover". I have always followed Sam's studio, live, and instructional work. He is, quite literally, one of the most talented and diverse drummers in the UK.

This one was a clip we had to discuss, as many drummers have. As well, this is one of those songs with a drum track that is sometimes assumed is relatively easy due to it's repetitiveness. It is exactly the opposite, and mentioned that to Sam. He had reviewed Steve Gadd's explanation of it before doing this as well.

From my standpoint, it is one of those tracks that you have to think about, but if you do too much....You are doomed. I have always found this difficult to play. He agreed. It is just one of those definitive musical & rhythmic tracks you have to fall into and be relaxed. As always with anything Sam does....He completely and perfectly nailed this.

Thanks Sam as always for using your 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 on this as always! Amazing job....
