PAT McDONALD-CHARLIE DANIELS BAND-40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VOLUNTEER JAM-BRIDGESTONE ARENA-BEIER 1.5 STEEL--5.5 X 14 & 6.5 X 14~

Last week saw the 40th Anniversary of the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. The all-star line-up of performers included in part..The Outlaws, Eric Church, Oak Ridge Boys, Wynonna, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alabama, Blackberry Smoke, etc..,! I really wish I could have attended this. Incredible event, and evening by all accounts.

Pat McDonald, long considered by many to be one of the greatest & most diverse performers in music, had his full rig with him.  He was using the 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 live, and had his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 as a backup as well. He also takes his 1.5 Steel--4 x 15 on the road with him as well. He has mentioned to me on a number of occasions that he takes two snare drums on the road with him...And both are always from Beier Drums. As always Pat...That means a lot to me-Thank You. Links below to a clip from the show, and several of Pat's solo's.

Looking through the list here there were quite a few players that have a 1.5 Steel. Monte Yoho of The Outlaws has used several sizes of the 1.5 Steel for a long time on the road exclusively. These days it is the 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 as his main, and his 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 as an auxiliary. David Northrup has a 1.5 Steel--5.5 x 14 that he has used live with the Oak Ridge Boys, and has also used his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 in the studio a great deal. Brit Turner has used his 1.5 Steel--6.5 x 14 live with Blackberry Smoke as well.

Thanks Again Pat....Next year I am attending this event no matter what~
